Volunteer
Volunteers are a core part of our community. We have dozens of people who return year after year to support events like the Glow Run, our 5K nighttime run that has become a much-loved community event, or to help us make lunch for Get Lunch at the Film Fest. We also have volunteer opportunities at Clubhouse. If you are interested in volunteering, send us a message.
Attend
If Volunteering is not your thing, you can be a part of supporting Ely’s wellbeing by attending one of our Lunch Events or running in our Glow Run. Events are a great and meaningful way to support the programs of WBD. Visit the Event page to learn more.
Wish List
Do you have stuff laying around that you would like to get rid of but you want to make sure it finds a good home or can be put to good use? The Northern Lights House and Clubhouse often have needs that our budget cannot accommodate or come up unexpectedly. Check out Wish List, here, to see if we match!

WBD Events:
Gratitude, connection, joy, celebration, shared experience….
WBD hosts events that do more than raise money. They build community wellbeing and build well beings in the community. The 5K Color Glow Run, is a joyous event where shared experience and celebration under a night sky creates pride and meaning. Our lunch events celebrate the meals we provide to Clubhouse members that build connection and health and wellbeing through camaraderie around a bountiful table.
Clubhouse and WBD supports its programs, and delivers community and connection, through a series of Events.

5K Color Glow Run & Glow Fest
- What: a festive nighttime 5K run

- Where: Start & Finish line with festival activities at the Ely Community Hub
About: Since 2015, the Northern Lights Clubhouse has been hosting a 5K event on the fourth Saturday in September. The Glow Run, a nighttime 5K where participants run in the dark, is festive and fun. It includes checkpoints with bubbles, running though glow in the dark dust, lots of glow in the dark accessories and paint, loud cheering sections and many runners with costumes. Show up to support this beloved community event to run or hang out at the start or finish and get a t-shirt, enjoy and live music, kids activities and an all-around fabulous vibe.
Lunch Events
Lunch at the Clubhouse is not just a meal. It is the cornerstone of community. It provides the literal and emotional sustenance for members, building connection through memories and shared experience. So it is fitting that these NLC Events include experiences centered around food.
- Get Lunch at Film Fest - Ely is home to some amazing events, and the Ely Fim Festival is no exception. Clubhouse is a regular Meal Partner, hosting an annual Get Lunch at the Film Fest Fundraiser to support Clubhouse, and offer a fast homemade meal to Film Fest attendees.
- Annual Tea Party - Each summer the Northern Lights Clubhouse hosts a Tea Party or Luncheon to thank supporters. Each year’s event has a unique theme, with décor and menu for a special experience that is always a truly special meal and experience.
- Fall Soup & Service Day – New for 2026! You are invited to spend a few hours in good company, helping wrap up the season and prepare the house for winter. You may help put a garden to bed or organize the garage...but either way it will make a difference and give you that meaningful sense of accomplishment that is not so easy to come by. After covering the tasks at hand, enjoy our gratitude with a hearty lunch; soup, a melty sandwich and a sweet treat for dessert.
Projects
Roll Up your Sleeves and help out with Small Projects with Big Meaning
The 135-year-old Northern Lights House is elegant, gracious and imbues its architectural grace onto Clubhouse members and House Residents as they live and work together under its 10-foot ceilings.
But old houses need constant care and upkeep, and we have a never-ending project list.

Are you handy? Do you like helping out with tasks that make you feel proud and give you that spark that reminds you of what really matters? Some of the projects we often need help with:

- Small household repairs like installing shades or faucets
